Turbo Blower Project

Description: Stevens Painton was contracted to piecemark, dismantle and disassemble, and ship an existing turbo blower to a repair shop for refurbishment. Turbo Blower was large rotating air pump powered by a steam turbine that provides cold blast air to USS/Kobe's # 3 Blast Furnace. After refurbishment was completed, the turbo blower was relocated to plant in Lorain, OH where SPC set the equipment and completed alignment. The steam turbine that powered turbo blower was also part of the relocation and installation.

Description: SPC was contracted to install the complete processing equipment lines for Bethlehem Steel's new Cold Mill Complex in Sparrows Point, MD (see attached flyer). Work included setting of 5 stand cold mill, the processing pickling line, and related cutting, processing and slitting equipment. The Cold Mill was a 5 stand configuration and each stand was approximately 110 tons. Tolerances were very tight for this light gauge coil processing application.

ID and FD Fan Change Out

Description: Replaced three (3) ID and three (3) FD fans for the Plant Boilers. All six (6) fans were driven by steam turbines. The ID Fans were 60" diameter fans and the FD fans were 120" diameter. Fans were changed out during three (3) separate outages changing out two (2) fans, one each during each outage. Work was completed in an operating environment with limited accessibility. No safety incidents were encountered during the work.

Description: Stevens Painton erected the air inlet system and duct assemblies for the gas turbine units. Equipment was Siemens Westinghouse Series F turbines.
