Project Description: Bar Upgrade and Modification
Continental Design and management was awarded an EPC Contract to design, procure components and complete construction for Timken Corporation's Latrobe Steel Bar Mill Upgrade. The upgrade represents improvements in the process product quality, as Timken will change from a gas fired furnace to a new state of the art induction heating furnace. The change will allow the Owner to process the product under a nitrogen blanket that will protect the product during the finishing process.
A side benefit of the project is that be changing to an induction heated furnace and eliminating the gas fired furnace, the NOx emissions are significantly reduced from the operation.
Stevens Painton's Construction Group is supporting Continental on the construction of the mill.

Project Description: New Electric Arc Furnace
Continental Design and Management Group was selected to provide detail design services to Allegheny Ludlum for their new Melt Shop expansion, that includes two (2) electric arc furnaces. The construction project requires extensive operations coordination, as existing equipment is taken out of service as the new equipment is place into operation.
Continental was also selected to act as the Construction Manager and coordinate all site construction activity by Allegheny Ludlum.

Bethlehem Steel's Cold Mill Complex in Sparrows Point, Maryland iincludes a five stand constinuous cold mill capabale
of processing 1,700,000 tpy of high quality cold rolled steel with improved tolerances and superior quality. With the pickle
line and cold mill linked, Bethlehem will be capable of converting hot rolled coils into finished cold rolled steel for shipment
or downstream processing in minutes.
Stevens Painton's work included the extensive pile driving that was required, site excavations, foundation installations(including
equipement and building foundations), mill floor slabs and equipment setting of the 5 stand continuous cold mill, the pickle line and
and other finishing process equipment.
